The smell of your skin lingers on me now.
You're probably on your flight back to your home town.
I need some shelter of my own protection, baby,
to be with myself and center.
Clarity, Peace, Serenity.

I hope you know, I hope you know
that this has nothing to do with you.
It's personal, myself and I,
we've got some straightenin' out to do.
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket,
but I've got to get a move on with my life.
It's time to be a big girl now,
and big girls don't cry.

The path that I'm walking I must go alone,
I must take the baby steps 'til I'm full grown, full grown.
Fairytales don't always have a happy ending, do they?
And I foresee the dark ahead if I stay.

Like the little school mate in the school yard,
We'll play jacks and Uno cards.
I'll be your best friend and you'll be my Valentine.
Yes, you can hold my hand if you want to,
'cause I want to hold yours too.
We'll be playmates and lovers and share our secret worlds,
but it's time for me to go home.
It's getting late, dark outside.
I need to be with myself and center.

Caresses are required

All I can ever be to you is a darkness that we know
and this regret I had to get accustomed to.

Once it was so right,
when we were at our high,
waiting for you in the hotel at night.

I knew I hadn't met my match,
but every moment we could snatch.
I don’t know why I got so attached.

It’s my responsibility,
you don’t owe nothing to me,
but to walk away I have no capacity.

He walks away, the sun goes down,
he takes the day but I’m grown.
And in your way,
in this blue shade,
my tears dry on their own.

I don’t understand
why do I stress a man
when there’s so many better things at hand.

We could've never had it all,
we had to hit a wall,
so this is inevitable withdrawal.

Even if I stop wanting you
and perspective pushes through,
I’ll be some next man’s other woman soon.

I shouldn't play myself again,
I should just be my own best friend,
not fuck myself in the head with stupid men.

He walks away, the sun goes down,
he takes the day but I’m grown.
And in your way,
in this blue shade,
my tears dry on their own.

So we are history,
your shadow covers me,
the sky above,
a blaze...

He walks away, the sun goes down,
he takes the day but I’m grown.
And in your way,
in this blue shade,
my tears dry on their own.

I wish I could say no regrets
and no emotional debts.
And as we kiss goodbye the sun sets.

So we are history,
a shadow covers me,
The sky above a blaze
that only lovers see.

He walks away, the sun goes down.
he takes the day but I’m grown.
And in your way,
my blue shade,
my tears dry on their own.
